Bill Clinton visited George H.W. Bush in Houston this weekend. On the agenda: Socks

What do you talk about when you’re a member of the living former presidents club?

“Kids, grandkids, old times and new times,” Bill Clinton tweeted of his visit with George H.W. Bush. “And socks.”

Great to spend time with @GeorgeHWBush & Mrs. Bush in Houston today. We caught up about kids, grandkids, old times and new times. And socks.

Clinton, aka No. 42, visited Bush, aka No. 41, and Barbara Bush in Houston over the weekend. A photo of the pair shows them posing with pairs of socks that Clinton brought for his former rival. One pair appeared to have pictures dogs on it, while another featured bees.

Clinton has expressed some sock envy of the elder Bush in the past. Back in 2013, after a visit, he tweeted about Bush’s “#sockswag.”

Enjoyed my annual lunch with President and Mrs. Bush in Maine. Envious of his “western cactus”-themed socks.

“41 has been known for wearing colorful socks for years, but it has been most noticed really ever since he has been depending on wheelchairs for mobility — exposing his ankles,” Bush spokesman Jim McGrath told the New York Daily News.
